It took a long road of self journey for me to learn the true meaning of beauty. I was raised in a culture that embrace exterior beauty where I “should” only feel beautiful, when I look beautiful. Gosh sometimes I wished Instagram was around when I was growing up so I could read encouraging quotes in square boxes rather than to have listened to a lot of “Aunties” talk.
Here’s one that will remain with me forever, “The sign of a beautiful person is that they always see beauty in others.” In other words, be kind and you’re beautiful. Simple as that.
When I discussed the subject of beauty with one of my best friends, she mentioned a quote from Audrey Hepburn, “happiest girls are the prettiest girls”. She definitely has a point there. I usually laughed so hard with my girlfriends that my tummy hurts and I love moments like that.
So I live for moments. Simple moments like every morning, when my son would squish in and plop himself in just the right nook of my arm where he would ask (demand) to be cuddled. He kisses me and all I feel is warmth and love and it’s this love that carries me through the day no matter where I go.
So I encourage you to live for moments. Those moments when you feel overly deliriously happy that exterior beauty doesn’t even cross your mind, all you feel is content, that’s when you will feel most beautiful and believing that this life is amazing.
As we are speaking on the subject of beauty, I feel so honoured to be given the chance to partner with Lancôme Paris. It’s not everyday occurrence that a prestigious beauty house come and ask you to exclusively represent them because they think you align perfectly to their iconic brand. My mind couldn’t get around it and to this day, I’m still swooning.
I imagined to shoot this story to tell my version of “Life Is Beautiful” by playing with Sebastian in an enchanted forest bathed in glowing golden hour light. Sebastian loves red apples and as always I had to have some kind of food to coax him strategically. Sigh.. life as a mother of a toddler. I really enjoyed working on this and figuring out how to tell this story visually so I hope you enjoy reading it too. It’s also the first time that I’ve dared to put on red lips. You know what, it’s growing on me.
I’m thirty. Thirty years young. Beauty is happiness, laughter, confidence, content and loving yourself at whichever age you are.
