For the majority of my new years’ break, I had the pleasure of spending time with Carin who was here visiting. Our hearts were disheartened over everything that has happened in the past few weeks in Sydney, Paris and other parts of the world as I’m sure you are too. So instead of following an adventurous, fast-paced itinerary, we stepped back and just spent the days taking things as they come. We spent her last day in Australia at the beach and just before sunset, I had the privilege of having these amazing photographs taken by her. I’m so in love with the images and frankly felt like I could pass for a mermaid.
Carin is an incredibly talented self-taught photographer who I highly admire and I owe a huge part of my passion in the photography field to her. I’ve just been hustling away in Paris when Carin said she’d noticed through my Instagram feed that I “had the eye for it”. So she asked me to shoot her for a feature on Glitter Guide and to be totally honest, it was a gutsy move of her because all I’d been using were an old version of iPhone and a compact camera. She told me to “imagine this DSLR is an iPhone.” The moment she placed her big camera in my hands, I felt love. I will be forever grateful that she believed in me and took a chance.
